Afraid of the Holy Spirit?

You aren't the only one.
The Holy Spirit is one of those "things" that people don't really like to talk about. For what reasons? I don't really know.

What I have observed recently (Here at Geneva College but also at other places) is that when the Holy Spirit is ready to make a radical impact, people don't want it anymore. They only want the Holy Spirit when it makes them "feel good" about themselves. Don't get me wrong, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit is The Comforter but when people start to feel conviction or guilt they are quick to throw the Holy Spirit out the window. (Don't worry, I'm even guilty of this sometimes. Like I said before, I'm not all holy and righteous. Just a normal person).

Maybe some of these thoughts are all over the place, but oh well, hopefully they can make someone somewhere think.

Let's go back to the Holy Spirit making people uncomfortable. Now let's take it a step back once more and talk about when the Gospel makes people feel uncomfortable. This is usually what you here when people actually start reading the Word and speaking truth about it. Let's face it, no sin and unrighteousness can hide from the truth of the Gospel.

WAIT HOLD UP! "If it makes me feel uncomfortable, then that's not right!"
If you are really saying that, let me ask a few questions....
Do you think Peter was uncomfortable when he stepped out of the boat to walk on water with Jesus?
Do you think the disciples were uncomfortable when they were persecuted time and time again?
Do you think prophets of the Old Testament were uncomfortable when they were ordered to be executed or arrested by the kings in place?
Do you think Moses was uncomfortable walking on the bottom of an ocean..SURROUNDED BY WATER?

The Gospel/Law/Holy Spirit will make you uncomfortable.

Yeah that's about it.

Feel free to comment below to maybe share an opinion or even provide a counter argument if you want to. I'm definitely open to discussion!
